I am glad I can finally announce that Raincity Studios has acquired Bryght. Needless to say I am stoked and already enjoying working with my new colleagues. Working with Bryght has been great, the best job of my life and I am sure it will be the same at Raincity.

SMS sucks and twitter proves it. When a well funded startup like Twitter which is full of smart people can't get SMS to scale, then something is wrong. And the something that is wrong is wait for it .... the carriers. The carriers control SMS which is why it sucks. If SMS were NEA it wouldn't suck but it is not so good-bye and good riddance.

SMS is dead. Maybe not today maybe not tomorrow but as soon as we have flat rate affordable mobile internet. The replacement will be something over good 'ole IP. Probably Jabber.

The Mylo looks sweet, but I doubt I will ever get one because it's Sony (which means it's proprietary in the wrong ways; I don't like Memory Sticks for example or the proprietary movie media format on the PSP) and I want the openness and hackability of Linux and I want Jabber. All of which the Nokia 770 does better it would appear.

As Boris said at BarCamp Amsterdam (if I may be so bold as to paraphrase him), Jabber and RSS and Atom are the formats and protocols to watch; this is just one more proof point.
