RULES AND REGULATIONS
- The contest is open to all emerging, BC based cinematographers/filmmakers who complete a film no longer than one minute in length featuring the Vancouver International Film Centre (VIFC) located at 1181 Seymour Street. Entrants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
- Only exterior shots of the building will be allowed, i.e. filmmaking is not permitted inside the building for this contest.
- Entries that are longer than one minute will be disqualified.
- Filmmakers can shoot in the format of their choice but the finished product must be delivered to the Trade Forum in DVD format.
- Natural lighting must be used.
- If any extra footage or sound is used, the filmmaker must own or license the necessary rights to the material.
- A panel of local filmmakers will judge the entries. The judges’ decision is final.
- The best 30 entries will be screened during The Trade Forum (September 28 –30) where the winner will be chosen.
- The award-winning cinematographer/filmmaker will receive a film grant prize from Kodak worth $2,500 in Kodak Motion Picture Film, which must be used by the winning recipient no later than December 31, 2005.
- Deadline for submissions is September 2, 2005.

Picking of nits;
The photographer rights aren't the only issue; think of the model releases and the building owner releases that would need to be gathered... logistics nightmare. Plus, they're looking for a commercial by the looks of it, so focus on the building is likely important in their decision making process.
I have a couple ideas too, but no time to pursue in the next 7 days.
